Financial support

Childminders are self-employed and are responsible for setting their own fees. Government funded financial support is available. You may be entitled to:

  • Disadvantaged Entitlement
    Up to 15 hours of childcare for the most vulnerable children due to parents income or additional needs

  • Universal Entitlement
    All children aged three and four are automatically entitled to 15 hours of what the government call ‘free childcare’

  • Working Parent Entitlement
    Children aged 9 months and over of eligible working parents will be entitled to up to 30 hours a week of what the government call ‘free childcare’ buy September 2025. (for children aged three and four, this includes the universal entitlement hours)

  • Tax Free Childcare (up to 11 year olds)

  • Tax Credits (up to 15 year olds)

  • Universal Credit (up to 16 year olds)

  • Care to Learn (for teenage parents)
