Now live: childminders are busy making their profiles public

What do childminding fees cover?

Fees provide childminders with an income but they also need to cover all the associated costs of running their business such as heating, lighting, insurances, equipment, toys and activities, crafts, outings, and cleaning products.

As has been reported in the media, government funding doesn’t always cover the full cost of providing a place and government guidance states that parents can expect to pay for consumables to help meet those costs. Some childminders will ask parents for additional payments to enable them to provide the high quality place for your child if the amount they receive falls below what they usually would charge.
